The End

I've decided to quit blogging as of today. Over the last few weeks I've noticed that the quality of my work has been slipping: my posts have gotten tired and uninteresting, and I don't think I'm doing the work that I did when I first started blogging. Simply put, I'm too busy with fixing up my house and my job to keep churning out lousy posts.

I did think about waiting out the season, but I'm just too beat. I'm about to get very busy at my job, so I simply don't think I'll be doing any posting anyway for the rest of the month.

I also feel that I can't keep up with the rest of the Phillies blogging community. When I began I was the only guy really doing the sabremetrics stuff. These days you have a variety of voices giving you information from different perspectives, from Balls Sticks 'N Stuff to Shallow Center to Beerleaguer to Philling Station, there are a lot of good Phillies blogs out there giving you entertaining writing with real insight into the team.

I'll write again: I have some long-term projects I want to work on and I hope you'll be seeing them soon. Otherwise, good luck and goodbye.

Comments:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - well, can you set up a blog at least dedicated to matt geiger?

That stinks. Thanks for the blog and good luck in all your endeavors.

I'm gonna keep checking in every once in a while, hoping you will Michael Jordan yourself out of retirement every so often.

I'll also write that this was the first phils blog I checked regularly and appreciate the work you've done. Live long and prosper.

Damn, that sucks but I totally understand. I've always enjoyed reading your stuff. As Jason says, please leave the archives up and running. When you get those long-term projects together, be sure to let us know. Take care.

Mike, it's a shame you're going - I'd rather see you post occasionally than not at all. Yours was the first phillies blog I found when I was exceptionally exasperated last year and looking for a bulletin board/discussion group/something that had a different point of view from the mainstream sports media. Best of luck with the house and all the rest, and I hope we see you on the web again.

Yea, Mike, you will definitely be missed. For instance, we all know David Bell is a lousy hitter but good fielder, but you always knew why. Your well crafted and insightful posts were a credit to Phillies fans. Whenever the inspiration strikes again, feel free to drop a comment at Phillies Nation. And if you need to keep your archives hosted somewhere, just let me know, there's always room.

As I told you before Mike, it was a great run. I won't lie and say you were the first Phils blog I found (Shallow Center was) but you were a very close second.

Any good team has roles the players need to fill. On Team Phlogger, you were the sabermetric guy. Some of us dabbled in it, but we alwasy knew where to go for the hard stuff -- to A Citizen's Blog.

I agree with the rest, leave your posts up for us to refer to from time to time, and that way, if you ever get a wild hair, you can post something, whether it is next week, next month, or next year.

Thanks for everything Mike, you've added to my enjoyment of the Phillies and baseball immensely.

I will miss your blog Mike, I think yours was the best of them all, even you last few posts were great, I did not see a decline in quality.

I'd wish you good luck, Mike, but you don't need it -- you've got skill. Use it wisely, and come back whenever you can. Don't underestimate your contribution to Phillies fans, and even to non-Phillies fans like me. It was appreciated.

Damn, I really would've like to see your take on this five game losing streak.

Long overdue, but Mike we will miss you at Philly Future. You had a great site here and we look forward to what you do down the road.
