Lieber-for-Gonzalez?

I expect to see the Phillies deal Jon Lieber to the Pittsburgh Pirates for closer Mike Gonzalez on Monday or Tuesday. The Pirates need a good starting pitcher and the Phillies need help with their bullpen to either set up Tom Gordon or to replace him. Maybe the Phillies will toss in Abraham Nunez to sweeten the deal. Gonazelz is young and he has a nice arm. He saved every opportunity for the Pirates in 2006 and his FIP ERA was a 2.81. And he gave up just one home run in 50+ innings of work.

Pat Gillick will make this deal work.
